That's right! I'm sure I don't have to tell the people that pre-ordered, but it's good news for people that haven't pre-ordered too! Means more info will be released by more players, and it means we are another step closer to the full release!
Have fun out there Pre-Boarders!
Oh and on a side note: There were some problems with starter missions. The problem was the mission server, they had to take down the servers but they are all up and running now!

Mystic Worlds is one of the many blogs that have been posting detailed first impressions concerning PotBS. So far it's been alone in actually elliciting a response from FLying Labs themselves. Russell takes the time to address the most commonly voiced concerns at length.
For instance, combat kicks as, while WOW does not:
| QUOTE | | What I can tell you is that our ship combat kicks ass. Period. And it’s a damn sight better than WoW’s. We have to do new and different things to differentiate ourselves because for all of WoW’s strengths, it’s not everything. |
But they do follow Blizzard's method of doing a few things damn well:
| QUOTE | | Again, you choose your battles. Rather than be kind of crap at everything, we picked sailing combat, Organic PvP, and the Economy as our star systems. Those have to be great. The rest we strive to make solid, and to improve on as we go. |
But they knowingly ignore a large section of players:
| QUOTE | | The question of targeting Explorers is a good one. We're really not. |

Subscribers of FilePlanet can now play Pirates of the Burning Seas for the next month under a beta account for free. The people over at Sony are calling this an "Open Beta" but in actuallity you have to pay a monthly fee to FilePlanet to join. So this is good news for those who are willing to shell out the $6/month (depending on subbion plan) to play the game.
Though Flying Lab Studios has also given out Open Beta access keys to people that registered on their forums and applied to the Closed Beta. People that didn't get in then, did get their invitations now! So check your mail if you applied too!

The retail pre-order for European players is scheduled to start on December 12th. They are working with their partners to gather a list of the retail location and will publish that information as soon as possible. Players who pre-order will receive the same benefits as the North American pre-order did, which were:
-An invitation to the “Pre-Boarding Party” allowing them access to the live game up to 15 days prior to launch, and the ability to keep their characters, skills and equipment after launch with purchase of game and paid subbion (characters will have a level cap of 20 during this time)
-Captain’s Best Friend, a blue and yellow parrot
-Mighty Blades: Swedish Rapier, Old World Steel or Musketeer's Matching Blades (depending upon which fighting style is selected)
-Original Game Soundtrack CD, 60 minutes of pirate themed music (comes in pre-order box)
No further information for our Aussie friends though. They are still in negotiations with potential partners.

The end of our waiting has drawn near. Another great step towards launch has been made!
So what does this mean? NDA?
NDA means Non-Disclosure Agreement. The NDA prohibited BETA testers from posting their screens shot and whatever other info they had. So with the NDA gone, we'll be seeing a LOT more of the game!
Of course this is great news, but it gets better!
December the 7th OPEN Beta will begin for Fileplanet subscribers. Haven't subscribed to fileplanet? Don't worry, within a week it will be open for all you scurvy landlubbers!
However.. This seems to be only the case for you North-Americans as of yet.
Australian and European Pre-Orders
Stuff is still being negotiated about in Australia with potential partners. They can't announce anything yet before they reach a deal. However they assure us it's high priority and will announce any info as soon as they can.
Information about European Pre-Orders will be shared as soon as they get the ''green light'' from their partners in the United Kingdom. They are also workin with their partners at SOE to gather a list of retail locations and will publish that information as soon as possible!
PotBS thanks their great Closed Beta testers who have been testing the game for nearly 2 years!

Well, the great news of already being able to pre-order on the 23rd was.. A little to hopefull, after much confusion we finally got an update. November 13th it is, still not bad.
From the official PotBS community site:
| QUOTE | While we thought the preorder boxes would hit stores this week, unfortunately the PotBS preorder box is being delayed until the week of November 13th.
We’re really sorry for the confusion, but we’re fixing it and then we can get the boxes in your hands.
Our friends at SOE are also very sorry. This has been a difficult week for them as most are working remotely out of hotel rooms and friends’ houses safely away from the fires. Some are getting back into the office today, and with their help we were able to sort out the issues involved in the preorder delay.
Before the preorder release date, we’ll make sure we have all the information you need: when the boxes will be in stores, what stores you can find it in, and where you can order the preorder box online. These are the three big questions you’ve been asking on our forums, and now that not quite so many things are burning (!) we will be able to get you those answers in time for the release.
Just a couple more weeks and then we’ll be there. Land is in sight.
Thanks for your understanding |

That's right! This one's for real!
| QUOTE | Here it is: January 22nd, 2008!
That’s our launch date. For Real. |
23th october is the day preordering is possible! When you preorder you'll get fancy ingame items.. (exclusive weapons and.. A PARROT!) and not just ingame items.. You'll also get the soundtrack CD! To get you in the mood untill the big day.. And that big day comes a lil sooner for the people that preorder. Preordering gives you acces to the complete world as of the 7th of January! 16 days to get ahead of the rest and give you the right of calling them n00bs!
If a lot of preorders come in, people will see that this is gonna be one heck of a MMO and will get them off the shelves too! So people... Preorder!
The game is currently still in closed beta, but open beta will start prior to the launch.. So that gives you an oppertunity to see if this game is really gonna be as good as they say its gonna be.
For more info about the launch date and all stuff involved check Burningsea.com!
